I am so thankful and honored to be the president of the Rotary Club of Elk Grove!  Contributions to our community this month have been significant and you should be proud to be a part of what we do for humanity locally and globally.

Jessie Baker Christmas gift giving:  Thanks to Ron Suter, for purchasing approximately 200 gifts for special needs students at Jesse Baker School.  Bob Lent, (Santa) distributed the gifts, wrapped by our Inner Wheel ladies, to a very excited group of children.  Photos, taken by Ken Strom, will be shared soon.  In addition, your contributions provided a pizza party for special needs adults at the EGACT school in Elk Grove on Friday, December 16th.

Donations in the Month of December:  Your generosity continues to make a difference monthly.  $1,000 was donated to the Project Ride program from our lunch proceeds (Red Oak Catering) with extra funds from the club to cover the difference.  This is in addition to the $1,500 donated to Elk Grove HART (Homeless Assistance) during our Christmas party on December 8th.

Update on Iruri Primary School Foundation application:  Thanks to Barbara Feist and Cathy Survillas for completing the Rotary Foundation application to build toilet facilities at the Iruri Primary School in Kenya.  The application process is challenging.  It includes signatures from members of the Rotary Club of Nyeri in Kenya.  I will keep you updated on the results of our efforts as the application is being processed.

Reminder:  Our next meeting is Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Chason’s Restaurant.

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Yours in Rotary,
Frank
